CELEBRATE RECOVERY
WHAT IS CELEBRATE RECOVERY?
Celebrate Recovery is a Christ-centered program that helps us deal with life’s “hurts, habits and hang-ups.” Our purpose is to celebrate God’s healing power in our lives through the 8 recovery principles found in the Beatitudes and the Christ-centered 12 steps as we become willing to accept God’s grace in solving our life problems.
Celebrate Recovery is for anyone who has a hurt, habit or hang-up. A wide variety of hurts, hang ups, and harmful behaviors are represented at Celebrate Recovery. Examples include dependency on alcohol or drugs, pornography, low self-esteem, need to control, depression, anger, co-dependency, fear of rejection, fear of abandonment, perfectionism, broken relationships, and abuse. It is not restricted to people struggling with an addiction. We all have issues that may be interfering with our fellowship with God and others. Therefore, we all qualify! Join us as we pursue real life in Jesus Christ and celebrate the recovery only He can bring through His people and His Word.
TIME AND LOCATION
CR meets on Saturday’s from 6:30-8:30 on Refuge Church [1315 Nashua Rd. Liberty, MO 64068]. Look for Celebrate Recovery signs!
Getting started
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Who is CR for?
CR is for anyone struggling with life. If you have ever had a hurt, if you have ever had a hang-up in life, or perhaps you have struggled with an addiction, then this ministry is for you. We all share one thing in common: hurt.
What is CR?
We are: a safe place, a refuge, a place of belonging, a place to care for others and be cared for, where respect is given to each member, where confidentiality is highly regarded, a place to learn, to grow and become strong again, where you can take off your mask, a place for healthy challenges and healthy risks, a possible turning point in your life
We are NOT: a place of selfish control, therapy, a place for secrets, a place to look for dating relationships, a place to rescue or be rescued by others, a place of perfection, a long-term commitment, a place to judge others, a quick fix
How do I get started?
The entry point for Celebrate Recovery is to come to a group meeting on Monday night at 6:30 PM. We will start with dinner, followed by our large group and small group discussion. All you have to do is show up and we will walk you through everything.
Does it Cost anything to attend?
Celebrate Recovery does not charge for this ministry. There is only a suggested donation of $2 for the dinner that is served at 6:30.
What is Recovery?
John Baker started Celebrate Recovery as a ministry of Saddleback Church in Lake Forest, California, with the main purpose of being able to talk about Jesus Christ as his Higher Power.
Who started Celebrate Recovery?
We believe the Church is the living, spiritual body of believers of which the Lord Jesus Christ is the Head. The church functions as Christ would function in the earth, seeking to find lost souls for the purpose of bringing them to salvation. We believe that the New Testament Church grew because people cared about one another and obeyed the Great Commission to go and make disciples.
We aim to invest in the lives of others and also make followers of Christ and His Word. Signs and wonders, including divine healing, are part of the Church’s ministry, as they were part of the ministry of Jesus on Earth, and His Apostles as read about in the book of Acts and beyond.

Is Celebrate Recovery for me?
Celebrate Recovery offers a person the opportunity to participate in a group fellowship where love and hope combine with God’s purpose to mend our lives. Ask yourself… (1) Are there things in my life that I do that hurt others? (2) Is there something I wish I could live without? (3) Is it time to crack my denial and admit I am not in control of my life? (4) Do I have a painful habit or hang-up from which I need to be freed? If you answered “yes” to any of these statements then we urge you to attend a Celebrate Recovery meeting to see if it is for you.
Is Celebrate Recovery confidential?
Yes, Celebrate Recovery maintains strict confidentiality. This promotes an atmosphere of trust and enables recovery. We have a saying that is repeated in every Large Group meeting : WHO you see here. WHAT you hear here. WHEN you leave here. STAYS HERE. Hear! Hear! We are diligent about confidentiality and anonymity. The guidelines/rules protect all of us from judgment and being “fixed”. In a “safe place” you can take off your “mask” and be real and honest without fear. You are 100% in control of when and how much you participate
Do I have to be a member of Refuge Church?
No, Celebrate Recovery is a ministry for anyone who is interested in a Christ centered recovery program that will enable them to recover from life’s hurts, habits, and hang-ups. There are attendees who are not members and/or do not attend Refuge Church. You are welcomed by our loving fellowship of believers to visit with us on any of our Sunday or Wednesday services.
Do I have to share?
In the Small Groups, absolutely not . . . until you are ready. You can pass anytime you wish and for as long as it takes for you to become comfortable.
